It has been a crazy summer what with sailing and cottaging and making/teaching art. October's siren call sings harvest, harvest, harvest. So I spent part of the day pickling my first batch of beets for this fall. A 10lb bag made six large jars of my Grandma Leatherbarrow's recipe! We'll open our first jar for thanksgiving.
